Balian was diagnosed with bone cancer in February and was only given a month or two to live.
Since Balian is an Alaskan Malamute he absolutely loves the snow.
Sadly his owner Jake is afraid that he will not survive to see the snow again.
Jake and his wife decided to drive Balian across the country to find snow, but due to his cancer and the fact they could not guarantee snow anywhere in the continental US that was off the table.
What to do since it is August in Pittsburgh?
The Printscape Arena at Southpointe had an idea. Since Jake plays hockey at the Arena, the staff at the Arena heard the story. So what did they do??
When they shave the ice between sessions. They saved the shavings....loaded them in a truck....and Balian had his snow!
