After first announcing the album over the November 16-17 weekend at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival 2024, Mac Miller's estate has now shared the late rapper’s second posthumous project Balloonerism will be released on January 17, 2025.

Believed to have worked on the project around the time he released the albums Watching Movies With the Sound Off, Delusional Thomas, Faces, and GO:OD AM between 2013-2015. Day ones of Miller, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, have long speculated about the possibility that Balloonerism would eventually get an official release.
A theory his family confirmed in the following statement —“Many of Malcolm’s fans are aware of Balloonerism, a full-length album that Malcolm created around the time of the release of Faces in 2014. It is a project that was of great importance to Malcolm—to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence.
"We believe the project showcases both the breadth of his musical talents and fearlessness as an artist,” the statement continued. “Given that unofficial versions of the album have circulated online for years and that releasing Balloonerism was something that Malcolm frequently expressed being important to him, we felt it most appropriate to present an official version of the project to the world.”
Mac Miller sadly passed of an accidental overdose in September 2018, at the age of 26, shortly after the release of Swimming. In 2020 his estate posthumously released Circles, the companion project to his previous GRAMMY nominated final album.
Along with the drop date reveal, an album trailer featuring the project’s cover art was also released — check it out below.
