'The Little Mermaid' voice actor for Sebastian, Samuel Wright, dies at 74

Voice actor Samuel Wright has died. He was 74 years old.

The iconic voice actor was known primarily for his role as Sebastian in "The Little Mermaid." In the 1989 Disney film, Wright was responsible for the original tracks of songs like "Under the Sea" and "Kiss the Girl."

The town of Montgomery, New York, which happens to be Wright's hometown, posted the sad news on Facebook, writing, "Sam was an inspiration to us all and along with his family established in the Hudson Valley Conservatory."

A cause of death was not mentioned in the post.

The Town of Montgomery continued in their post, "On top of his passion for the arts and his love for his family, Sam was most known for walking into a room and simply providing PURE JOY to those he interacted with."

The post continued, "He loved to entertain, he loved to make people smile and laugh and he loved to love."

According to TMZ, before he voiced the iconic character of Sebastian in "The Little Mermaid," Wright held roles in "Enos," "All My Children," and "The Cosby Show."

He also appeared in various theater works, including "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Pippin," and "The Lion King."
