Of course, she’s also performing on Sunday, February 13 at the Super Bowl with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem. Blige chopped it up with Audacy’s Big Tigger to share all the deets on her new album and Sunday’s mega performance.
Ahead of the album release, Blige has already dropped the singles “Good Morning Gorgeous,” “Amazing” featuring DJ Khaled, and “Rent Money” featuring Dave East. Her forthcoming project isn't necessarily a sad album or an all-around happy album. Rather it encompasses the duality of both emotions... "That’s what life is,” Blige tells Big Tigger. The album title was inspired by speaking positive affirmations to herself. Mantras such as “good morning gorgeous” positively altered her motivation and self-esteem.

Anderson .Paak, Fivio Foreign, and Usher are also featured collaborators. “For one, they're all amazing artists,” said Blige. “You could be a top artist, number 1 on the charts, or you could be an underground artist; If I hear you and you affect me in some kind of way, or make me think, or make me love you as an artist, then I’ma work with you.”
Fans are also anticipating the closing track “Need Love,” the duet with Usher. “Usher is family. He’s been family since day one,” Blige expressed. The R&B stars previously worked together on Blige’s Growing Pains album, released in 2007.
The GRAMMY Award-winning singer was tight-lipped about her song selection for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but she’s equally “excited” and “nervous” about the upcoming performance. “I’ve never been this nervous in a while,” said Blige. What’s more, the viewers can expect an unforgettable moment. “This is about to be the party of the century. This is the biggest party and the world is going to be there,” she continued.
So, what’s next for the living legend, Mary J. Blige? Perhaps exploring other genres of music. "I don’t know [what’s next], I have no idea," she says. "Maybe a Jazz album… maybe a Gospel album. Something positive, though."
