About two days ahead of its release, Gaga revealed the single would be arriving with a —don’t blink or you’ll miss it— 10-second preview. In the sinister snippet, filmed from the perspective of being in a vehicle, a black haired Gaga is seen frantically running away, as the car drives towards her on a suburban street. Panicked, Gaga turns back to look at the mystery driver, as she continues to sprint to add distance between the two.
Alas, the track arrived with only a lyric video, so any visual expansion in relation to the song will have to be left up to our imaginations for the time being. That being said, the single is very much giving early Gaga — Fame Monster, Born This Way vibes, riding in on a wave of synths, alerting us Mother Monster is back, but also evolved.
In tapping back into her roots that she infected the world with through hits like “Bad Romance,” “Poker Face,” and more, Lady Gaga is driving down the right lane to the Pop album she promised LG7 to be, with “Disease” being the introduction to next variant of her contagion.
