80's Rewind: Daryl Hall & John Oates - Kiss On My List

80's Rewind

My parents have this song on 8-track at their house... and it still plays like new!

Daryl Hall & John Oates had so many hit songs making them the best-selling duo of all time.  This week we're spotlighting "Kiss On My List."

Many people surprisingly hear the lyric as "kiss on my lips" instead of list.  According to Daryl Hall, he calls this "an anti-love song," and the lyric, "Your kiss is on my list of the best things in life" means that the kiss is another item on the guy's list - and certainly not the best thing.  He went on to say that "Everyone thinks it's 'I love you and without you I would die.' It's exactly the opposite of that."

In an interview with Mix magazine, Daryl Hall said: "Eddie Van Halen told me that he copied the synth part from 'Kiss On My List' and used it in 'Jump.'  I don't have a problem with that at all."
