LEANDER, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Two people are dead following an overnight hit and run crash in Leander, officials said.

First responders were called to where U.S. 183A rejoins U.S. 183 at Bryson Ridge Trail just after 12:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. According to Leander Police, a BMW sedan heading southbound on U.S. 183 ran a red light at the intersection, striking a motorcycle heading northbound.

Two people were on the bike and were killed in the crash. One was a man in his 40s; the other victim was a 17-year old.

The driver, identified by police as 21-year old Allan Justin Gaytan of Hutto, entered the store and was caught on surveillance video before fleeing the scene. He was taken into custody and is now receiving medical treatment.
