Another chance for strong, severe storms Thursday afternoon

Severe weather outlook

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The I-35 corridor will be under the gun for possible strong to severe thunderstorms again Thursday afternoon, as a cold front passes through the area.

Storms failed to materialize on Wednesday across Central Texas, despite record heat and abundant Gulf moisture. The approaching front will provide the third ingredient needed, and the Storm Prediction Center on Thursday morning upgraded its forecast to include the Austin metro in its "enhanced" risk of severe storms - the third of five levels in the forecast.

Strong winds, large hail, and pockets of heavy rainfall are the biggest threats with these storms as they pass through the area.

Rain chances will diminish Friday, before another possibility of severe weather Saturday as a low pressure system finally moves across the state.
