AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Fire will receive a grant totaling more than $220,000 as a part of the CARES Act, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn announced Thursday.
The $220,243.64 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program will provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and related supplies for the department as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
"Firefighters are on the front lines of keeping our communities safe, and they deserve every resource possible at their disposal," Cornyn said in a statement. "I applaud area leaders for their work to obtain this grant, and I’m grateful to the Trump Administration for supporting the City of Austin."
