AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin ISD trustees voted Tuesday night to name their lone finalist for superintendent.
Dr. Stephanie Elizalde was named the lone finalist after a 7-0-2 vote by the board.
Elizalde comes from Dallas ISD, where she has served as Chief of School Leadership since December 2015. She's also held a variety of leadership positions in San Antonio ISD and Southwest ISD. She holds bachelor's and master’s degrees from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin.
Following a 21-day waiting period, the AISD board will take action on a contract to officially hire Elizalde.
Outgoing superintendent Dr. Paul Cruz, who has served AISD for the past six years, announced his resignation in February, in order to take a new role at the University of Texas.
