AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police Chief Brian Manley has tested positive for COVID-19, according to media reports.

Manley replied to a tweet Saturday night, saying the focus should remain on those on the front lines of the fight against COVID-19.

"Please keep the focus on all those on the front line - the doctors, nurses, firefighters, EMS techs, police officers, and all other essential workers, not on my diagnosis," Manley tweeted.

According to reports, Manley told the department that he tested positive and has been in quarantine since Wednesday, Dec. 23.

News of Manley's diagnosis comes as Austin Police employees can receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine beginning Monday.
