AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- As the coronavirus pandemic continues, the Central Texas Food Bank is continuing its drive-through food distributions in the month of August for those who are facing food insecurity.

In order to maintain social distancing, these events are drive-through only, and no walk-ups will be allowed.

Here is the schedule (subject to change based on weather and other conditions):

  • Thursday, July 30: Travis County Expo Center, 7311 Decker Lane, 8-11 a.m.
  • Saturday, August 8: Nelson Field, 7105 Berkman Drive, 8-11 a.m.
  • Thursday, August 13: Smile Direct Facility, 300 Vista Ridge Drive (Kyle), 8-11 a.m.
  • Thursday, August 20: Nelson Field, 7105 Berkman Drive, 8-11 a.m.
  • Saturday, August 22: Del Valle High School, 5201 Ross Road, 8-11 a.m.
  • Thursday, August 27: Toney Burger Stadium, 3200 Jones Road, 8-11 a.m. (enter from the eastbound U.S. 290 frontage road)
  • Saturday, August 29: Travis County Expo Center, 7311 Decker Lane, 8-11 a.m.

Each vehicle will receive one box including assorted produce, at least one gallon of milk, 8 to 20 pounds of protein including chicken or pork products, and a box of shelf-stable items.

Clients are asked to make sure enough space is available in their trunk or vehicle before arriving at the distribution site. Volunteers will place the food in the trunk, ensuring a contactless experience.

There is no need to sign up to pick up food at these events, but the Food Bank asks that you only come if you are facing true food insecurity, as their resources are stretched to the limit.

Volunteers are also needed to help at these events; to sign up, visit www.centraltexasfoodbank.org and click on the "Volunteer" link. Monetary donations are also needed, which can be made online at www.centraltexasfoodbank.org.

The Central Texas Food Bank serves 21 counties across Central Texas, through more than 260 partner agencies and direct programs.
