AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials across Central Texas, for August 19:
Travis County: Austin Public Health reported 303 new cases and 9 new deaths Wednesday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases above the 25,000 mark to 25,062 with 346 deaths. 23,772 of the cases are estimated to be recovered, leaving 944 active cases - a decrease of 26 from Tuesday.
215 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, with 78 in intensive care and 55 on ventilators.
23 new hospital admissions were reported Wednesday, with the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations now at 27.
Williamson County: 43 new cases and 5 new deaths were reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,624 with 110 deaths. 695 cases are estimated to be active, while 75 patients are hospitalized - an increase of 4 from Tuesday. 29 are in intensive care and 17 are on ventilators.
Hays County: 18 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,210 with 43 deaths. 2,649 cases have recovered, leaving 2,518 active cases - a decrease of 45 from Tuesday. 18 patients are hospitalized, an increase of 1 from Tuesday.
Bastrop County: 8 new cases and 1 new death were reported by DSHS Wednesday, for a total of 1,477 cases with 24 deaths.
Caldwell County: 6 new cases were reported by DSHS Wednesday, for a total of 1,195 cases with 30 deaths.
State of Texas: 6,474 new cases were reported Wednesday across the state, as well as 550 backlogged cases, bringing the total to 557,256. 309 new deaths were reported, for a total of 10,559. The 7-day positivity rate fell to 10.81%. Hospitalizations fell to 5,974, the first time since late June that hospitalizations have been below the 6,000 mark.
