COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 20: 291 new cases in Travis County

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials across Central Texas, for August 20:

Travis County: 291 new cases were reported Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 25,353 with 346 deaths. 24,046 of the cases are estimated to be recovered, leaving 961 active cases - an increase of 17 from Wednesday.

208 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, with 73 patients in intensive care and 50 on ventilators.

30 new hospital admissions were reported on Thursday, with the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations now at 27.

Williamson County: 22 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Thursday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 7,646 with 112 deaths. 643 cases are estimated to be active, while 78 patients are hospitalized - an increase of 3 from Wednesday. 30 patients are in intensive care, with 17 on ventilators.

Hays County: 20 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,230 with 45 deaths. 2,733 cases have recovered, leaving 2,452 active cases - a decrease of 66 from Wednesday. 18 patients remain hospitalized.

Bastrop County: 24 new cases and 1 new death were reported by DSHS on Thursday, for a total of 1,501 cases with 25 deaths.

Caldwell County: No new cases were reported by DSHS on Thursday, for a total of 1,195 cases with 30 deaths.

State of Texas: 4,923 new cases were reported Thursday statewide, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 562,559. 234 new deaths were reported, for a total of 10,793. The 7-day positivity rate jumped to 14.13%. Hospitalizations dropped to 5,635.
