COVID-19 By The Numbers, August 26: 100 new Travis County cases

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- We're following the latest coronavirus updates from local health officials across Central Texas, for August 26:

Travis County: 100 new cases and 5 new deaths were reported Wednesday, pushing the total number of confirmed cases to 26,117 with 371 deaths. 24,951 of the cases are estimated to be recovered, leaving 795 active casess, a decrease of 23 from Tuesday.

158 patients are hospitalized across the five county metro area, with 57 in intensive care and 40 on ventilators.

13 new hospital admissions were reported Wednesday, with the 7-day moving average now at 20.

Williamson County: 31 new cases and 2 new deaths were reported Wednesday, for a total of 7,820 confirmed cases with 115 deaths. 257 cases are estimated to be active, with 73 patients hospitalized.

Hays County: 14 new cases and 1 new death were reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 5,322 with 46 deaths. 2,897 cases have recovered, leaving 2,379 active cases - a decrease of 14 from Tuesday. 17 patients are hospitalized.

Bastrop County: 19 new cases were reported by DSHS on Wednesday, for a total of 1,561 with 25 deaths.

Caldwell County: 9 new cases were reported by DSHS on Wednesday, for a total of 1,226 with 32 deaths.

State of Texas: 5,313 new cases were reported Wednesday, along with 94 backlogged cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 592,137. 229 new deaths were reported, for a total of 11,805 across the state. Hospitalizations continue to drop, with 4,806 Texans hospitalized as of Wednesday.
