AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Here are the latest updates from local health officials on the coronavirus, for June 24:
Travis County: 318 new cases were reported on Wednesday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 6,914. 2 new deaths were reported, bringing the total to 116. 4,796 of the cases are estimated to be recovered, leaving 2,002 active cases. Hospitalizations across the five county area saw another big jump, with 274 patients now hospitalized - an increase of 38 from Tuesday. 106 patients are in intensive care and 42 are on ventilators.
56 new patients were admitted to area hospitals on Wednesday, pushing the 7-day moving average of new hospitalizations to 43.4.
Williamson County: 116 new cases were reported Wednesday, for a total of 1,614. 831 are active, an increase of 99, with 32 deaths and 737 recoveries. 25 patients are hospitalized - an increase of 1 from Tuesday - with 9 in intensive care and 4 on ventilators. Williamson County says 28% of its hospital beds are available, while 65% of its ventilators are available.
Hays County: 193 new cases Wednesday brings the Hays County total to 2,194 cases, with recoveries increasing by 6 to 403. That leaves 1,786 active cases. 17 patients are currently hospitalized, an increase of 2 from Tuesday.
Bastrop County: 4 new cases and 1 new death were reported Wednesday by Bastrop County officials, pushes the total number of cases to 375 and 5 deaths. 136 patients have recovered, leaving 234 active cases.
Caldwell County: 11 new cases were reported Wednesday by DSHS officials, for a total of 286 cases in Caldwell County.
State of Texas: Wednesday's update saw 5,551 new cases reported across the state, bringing the total to 125,921 and setting another new record high. Officials also reported 29 new deaths, bringing the total number of fatalities to 2,249. Hospitalizations continues to increase, with another 297 patients added Wednesday for a total of 4,389 across the state.
