AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Drought conditions are on the increase across Central Texas, prompting three counties to issue burn bans Tuesday.

Travis, Hays, and Williamson Counties all announced burn bans Tuesday.

In Travis County, the ban goes into effect immediately and will expire on August 26 unless canceled earlier. Williamson County's ban will go into effect at 5 p.m. Wednesday, for a maximum of 30 days. Hays County's ban goes into effect immediately and will last until further notice.

The bans prohibit the burning of yard waste including leaves, grass and brush, and prohibit burning to clear land.

Violation of the bans in Travis and Williamson County are a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine up to $500.
