HAYS COUNTY, Texas (Talk1370.com) -- Hays CISD officials are delaying the beginning of the 2020-21 school year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic - the first Central Texas school district to do so.
Superintendent Dr. Eric Wright presented the district's re-opening plans to the school board Thursday night.
The new calendar calls for the fall semester to begin on September 8 with three weeks of online-only learning for all students. With the three-week push back, the fall semester will now end in January; the spring semester will begin in February and run through June 15.
The earliest students would be able to return to campus for in-person learning would be Monday, September 28, although parents will be able to continue to choose online learning. That date is also subject to change depending on the ongoing coronavirus conditions.
