Hays County announces seventh COVID-19 case

Hays County

SAN MARCOS (Talk1370.com) -- Hays County officials have announced their seventh positive case of COVID-19.

County officials say an adult person was on the campus of San Marcos High School on March 12 and was asymptomatic at the time. Later, the person developed symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19.

The person had contact with someone who had already tested positive, officials said.

San Marcos CISD has already notified students and staff.

According to Hays County Local Health Department Epidemiologist Eric Schneider, the risk of transmission is low for those that were on campus, but Schneider recommends all staff and students that were on campus monitor themselves for symptoms until March 26. Those symptoms typically include fever, cough and congestion.
