AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Despite the ongoing impact of the coronavirus, several ceremonies are taking place across Austin to mark the 19th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
Members of the Austin Firefighters’ Association/Local 975 and the Austin Fire Department will hold their annual memorial ceremony at the Buford Tower in downtown Austin, to remember the 343 firefighters lost at the World Trade Center. The ceremony is expected to get underway at 7:30 a.m. A livestream is expected to be available on YouTube, but officials say it is dependent on weather and other conditions.
At 8:59 a.m., the time the first tower collapsed, the Austin Police Department Pipe and Drum Corps will begin its ceremony at the Texas State Cemetery, to honor the 412 first responders killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. That ceremony is expected to be livestreamed via Periscope.
In honor of Patriot Day, flags across the country should be flown at half-staff.
