HOUSTON (Talk1370.com) -- A federal judge has denied a Republican effort to invalidate more than 127,000 votes cast via drive-thru voting in Harris County.

District Judge Andrew Hanen, in dismissing the case, said that the plaintiffs - conservative Texas activists, represented by former Harris County GOP chairman Jared Woodfill - lacked standing to sue.

Roughly 10 percent of the early vote total in Harris County, the nation's third largest, came from the 10 drive-thru centers that were set up for the election, helping the county achieve some 1.4 million early votes in total. County officials estimate as many as 20,000 additional ballots may be cast at the drive-thru locations Tuesday.

The Texas Supreme Court rejected a similar lawsuit last month, refusing on Sunday to invalidate the votes already cast.
