AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Officials are investigating after a person was struck and killed by a landing aircraft at Austin's airport Thursday evening.
Austin-Travis County EMS says the call came in just after 8:20 p.m. Thursday. Austin-Bergstrom officials say the person was struck and killed on runway 17R.
According to a statement from the FAA, the pilot of Southwest Airlines flight 1392 reported seeing a person on the runway "shortly after the Boeing 737 touched down" at 8:12 p.m. An airport operations driver reported finding the victim on the runway.
An investigation into the incident is underway. The FAA is assisting Austin Police and other agencies in the investigation.
