AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police are investigating after a woman died outside her apartment early Monday morning in east Austin.
Police were called to the Delwood Apartments in the 1400 block of East 51st Street just after 2:45 a.m. Monday. When officers arrived, they found 58-year old Karen Henson with severe trauma to her body.
According to witnesses, Henson heard a noise outside her apartment window and went to investigate. Police say it's not exactly clear what happened next.
Henson was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased at 3:25 a.m. An autopsy is pending.
Police say Henson had previously experienced homelessness and was known for helping others who were in the same situation. Many knew where she lived because of those efforts.
