AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- A fallen San Marcos Police officer made his final trip home Monday afternoon.
The body of SMPD Officer Justin Putnam, who was killed in the line of duty Saturday night, was transported from the Travis County Medical Examiner's office in Austin to Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos.
The procession left Austin around 3 p.m., traveling southbound on Interstate 35 to San Marcos. The route traveled through the Blanco Vista neighborhood, by the San Marcos Police Department on the city's south side, and westward on Wonder World Drive towards the funeral home.
San Marcos Fire and San Marcos Electric Utility crews staioned fire and bucket trucks along the route at Yarrington and along Wonder World Drive on the west side of the overpass in honor of Putnam.
