AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Several people protesting in front of Austin Police headquarters were taken into custody overnight, on the same night that demonstrations broke out across the country in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

An estimated 75-100 protesters gathered in front of APD's headquarters at the corner of 8th Street and Interstate 35 early Saturday morning.

Water bottles were thrown towards police, while officers dressed in riot gear fired rubber bullets to push the crowd back. Several protesters were arrested, on varying charges including inciting a riot, throwing objects and harassment of a public servant.

Another protest is scheduled for noon Saturday.
