AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Strong to severe storms may threaten the Austin area late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

NOAA's Storm Prediction Center has placed much of the Austin area under a slight risk of severe storms, the second of five levels in their forecast.

Forecasters say the timing for storms in the I-35 corridor is likely Wednesday morning, beginning just before and continuing through the morning commute.

The biggest threats with any storms that do develop will be large hail, strong winds, and lightning. Isolated pockets of heavy rainfall are possible, but that threat has shifted slightly north and west in the last 24-36 hours.
