AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Simon Property Group, the largest mall owner in the U.S., says it will reopen 49 of its properties beginning this weekend, according to a company memo.
In Central Texas, the company operates The Domain, Barton Creek Square, Lakeline Mall, and the Round Rock and San Marcos Premium Outlets. All of those properties, along with 16 others across Texas, will re-open on Friday.
Business hours will be limited to 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, allowing extra time for cleaning. Simon says it will have staff regularly sanitize high-touch areas like food court tables, escalators, and door handles.
The company also plans to limit traffic into each property, allowing for a targeted level of 1 person per 50 square feet of space. Some entrances will be closed, and mall staff will encourage social distancing. In restrooms, every other sink and urinal will be taped off to encourage proper spacing.
Simon is also encouraging its retailers to provide methods for contactless payments, such as Apple Pay.
