AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is set to speak Tuesday following the weekend's protests, some of which turned violent across the state.
Abbott will be joined by Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, as well as Dallas Police Chief Reneé Hall, and Fort Worth Police Chief Ed Kraus, along with Texas Department of Public Safety Director Colonel Steve McCraw and Adjutant General of the Texas National Guard Major General Tracy Norris.
The press conference and briefing will be held at Dallas City Hall at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Several cities across the state, including many in the Metroplex, implemented curfews in response to escalating tensions. Abbott took several actions over the weekend to assist cities with responding to the protests, including ordering thousands of DPS troopers to support local law enforcement efforts, declaring a statewide state of disaster enabling federal agents to act as Texas peace officers, and activating the Texas National Guard.
