Texas hits new record for COVID-19 hospitalizations Monday

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Hospitalizations for COVID-19 hit a new all-time high Monday, according to new data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.

11,351 patients are currently hospitalized across Texas for COVID-19. The previous statewide high, set back during the July surge, was 10,893 patients.


Trauma service area O, which covers the Austin area, reported 35 available ICU beds, with 741 regular hospital beds available. That's from a total of 4,110 staffed hospital beds.

12,841 new cases were reported across the state Monday, with 49 new fatalities. That brings the total number of confirmed cases across the state to 1,490,479, with 26,521 fatalities.
