AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Four new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Travis County, pushing the total of confirmed cases as of Saturday evening to 62.
City health officials say they believe community spread is continuing.
More testing kits are expected to be received soon. Saturday saw the opening of the first test collection point run by the City and Travis County, part of a public-private partnership between Austin Public Health (APH), St. David’s, Ascension Seton, UT Health Austin (Dell Medical School) and Baylor Scott & White.
Testing at the site will prioritize those who have a referral and an appointment. "We have to prioritize those who are at higher risk, hospitalized, our health care workers, first responders, and those who work in critical infrastructure to ensure that they have access because it's important for the public health and safety of our City," said Dr. Mark Escott, Interim Health Authority for Austin-Travis County.
