AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Travis County will require face masks at county facilities, following a unanimous vote by the Commissioners Court Tuesday morning.
The ordinance, as written, provides for a criminal trespass charge for those who refuse to comply with the order and refuse to leave the premises after being asked to wear a mask or leave.
A criminal trespass charge is a Class B misdemeanor, under which a person may face punishment of up to a $2,000 fine and up to 180 days in jail.
Exceptions to the new policy will be granted for those with medical conditions or health risks. County correctional facilities and courts are also not impacted by the new policy.
