AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- University of Texas President Greg Fenves has tested negative for COVID-19, officials announced Sunday.
According to the release, Fenves will self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for further symptoms. His wife, Carmel, is one of the confirmed positive cases in Austin.
However, given the extent of his exposure to a confirmed case, he will continue to self-isolate for 14 days and monitor for further symptoms, as guided by UT Health Austin infectious disease physicians and as recommended by Austin Public Health.
Additionally, we are in the process of contacting those who have had close contact with President Fenves in recent days and advising them to also continue to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms. Because of President Fenves’ extensive contact with those in his family who have tested positive and the fact that he had demonstrated symptoms, there remains a possibility he may have been infectious prior to his COVID-19 testing. Therefore, public health authorities are recommending continued self-isolation for those who were in close contact. Those with casual or distant contact are considered low risk and should self-monitor.
