(Talk1370.com) -- Walmart says it will close its 24-hour stores overnight in an effort to allow employees to restock shelves and clean stores in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
The company says its stores and Neighborhood Markets will be open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. until further notice, beginning on Sunday, March 15.
"I could not be prouder of our associates and what they continue to accomplish for our customers," Walmart chief operating officer Dacona Smith said. "I don’t think any of us have been through an experience like this, and we continue to be amazed at what our people, whether in the stores or in the supply chain, are doing to make sure customers have what they need."
H-E-B made a similar announcement early Saturday, saying its stores would close at 8 p.m. Saturday night and then operate from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily until further notice.
