Wilco Forward distributes nearly $3 million in small business aid

Coronavirus and Money

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (Talk1370.com) -- Wilco Forward, a grant program aimed at providing financial relief to Williamson County business owners impacted by COVID-19, says it's distributed $2.8 million in relief funds so far to local businesses.

Officials say the program, which was allocated $25 million of the $93 million the county received from the CARES Act, has issued 198 checks as of Monday.

So far, more than 2,400 applications have been received.

County treasurer Scott Heselmeyer praised the efforts to help WilCo business owners affected by the pandemic. "In the first three business days since opening applications, we’ve put nearly $3 million into the hands of our struggling small businesses. That is a huge accomplishment, but we expect to do even better. Our mission has been to accurately and efficiently process these grants and payments, and the team in our County Auditor’s Office is doing a great job of managing this difficult task.  We issued the first payments within 24 hours of accepting applications, and we have issued nearly 200 checks in the first three days of processing.  The process is getting more efficient each day, and we expect the daily output to continue to grow,” Heselmeyer said.

Applications are still being accepted for relief. Details and eligibility requirements are available online at the county's website at www.wilco.org/forward. Applications will continue be processed until the $25 million in budgeted funds are exhausted, or the deadline of June 30, 2020 is reached.
