WilCo Sheriff Chody defeated in re-election bid

Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody

WILLIAMSON COUNTY (Talk1370.com) -- Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody lost his bid for a second term in Tuesday's election results.

Mike Gleason, a former assistant chief deputy in the sheriff's office who retired in 2017, collected 56 percent of the total vote, with just over 150,000 ballots cast.

Gleason spent 24 years in the sheriff's office, and will be the first Democrat to serve as Williamson County's sheriff since the 1980s.

Chody was indicted in late September on a charge of evidence tampering in relation to the Javier Ambler case, who died in the custody of WCSO deputies in 2019.
