AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Police are investigating after a woman was shot to death in a northeast Austin home late Sunday evening.
Austin Police say they received a 911 call just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday from the 15100 block of Forum Avenue, off Wells Branch Parkway near Interstate 35. The call came from a neighbor saying that two children had run to their home saying their mother had been shot by their father.
When police arrived at the scene, they found 30-year old Lekita Hurd. Despite attempting lifesaving measures, Hurd was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Police say 27-year old Demetrie Oneal Mann fled the scene following the shooting. While police were interviewing witnesses, Mann returned to the scene and was taken into custody.
