AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Legendary rock band The Who will be making a stop in Austin, adding a date at the new Moody Center on May 3.

The Who Hits Back! tour will kick off on April 22 in Florida, featuring many of the cities the band was set to play in 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tickets for the Austin show will go on-sale Friday morning, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m., with pre-sale opportunities for American Express card members as well as The Who fan club and Moody Center newsletter subscribers. Ticket details can be found online at the Moody Center website.

In addition to singer Roger Daltrey and guitarist/songwriter Pete Townshend, the tour will feature The Who's full live band, comprised of guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, second keyboardist Emily Marshall, bassist Jon Button, drummer Zak Starkey and backing vocals by Billy Nicholls along with orchestra conductor Keith Levenson, lead violinist Katie Jacoby, and lead cellist Audrey Snyder, passionately delivering many classics, as well as songs from their most recent album, titled WHO.

“Pete and I said we’d be back, but we didn't think we'd have to wait for two years for the privilege," said Daltrey in a statement. "This is making the chance to perform feel even more special this time around. So many livelihoods have been impacted due to Covid, so we are thrilled to get everyone back together - the band, the crew and the fans. We’re gearing up for a great show that hits back in the only way The Who know-how, by giving it everything we got."

The new venue is set to open in April, replacing the Frank Erwin Center as the home of University of Texas basketball.
