AUSTIN (Talk1370.com/NewsRadio 1080 KRLD) -- The State of Texas has reached a settlement in its lawsuit against Griddy. The electricity company faced complaints from customers and scrutiny from regulators after some homeowners received bills for more than $10,000 after February's winter storm.
The Texas Attorney General's Office sued Griddy, accusing the company of engaging in false or deceptive practices. The company did not admit to any wrongdoing as part of the settlement. It did agree not to make any false or misleading statements about its prices.
Griddy filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March. As part of that court proceeding, the company has said customers will not be required to pay their outstanding bills from February.
