America is in the midst of a crisis: we are running out of chicken wings.
Rising poultry prices have led to a nationwide chicken shortage, and many businesses have had to raise their menu prices or even eliminate some items temporarily to combat the change.
Wingstop decided to combat the shortage of chicken wings with a new offshoot called "Thighstop," that sells chicken thighs instead of chicken wings.
Charlie Morrison, Chairman and CEO of Wingstop Restaurants Inc, told CNBC, that the restaurant will offer all the same flavors people know and love with their wings, only this time it will be for thighs. He said, "There's not a big market for it," and thighs "don't get the appreciation they deserve."
And it's not just Wingstop feeling the effects of the chicken shortage. Whataburger recently announced that they are facing a shortage of Honey Butter Chicken Biscuits!
Wingstop will be running Thighstop as a virtual "ghost kitchen," so if you want to try their offerings of thighs and boneless thighs, you can head HERE.
