AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- One person is dead and three others were injured after an individual reportedly tried to carry a gun into a bar on 6th Street late Saturday night.

According to Austin Police interim chief Robin Henderson, the incident happened just before midnight in the 200 block of East 6th Street, between Brazos and San Jacinto.

Officers responded to a report of that individual trying to enter a bar with a gun. When they arrived on the scene, the suspect pointed the gun at officers.

Three APD officers fired their weapons. The suspect was hit multiple times, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Henderson said three bystanders were injured as well. One person is said to be in critical condition, while two others sustained non life-threatening injuries. APD is investigating whether those bystanders were shot by the suspect or by police; Henderson said there were indications that the suspect did fire his weapon.

The suspect has not yet been identified.

All three APD officers have been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of two investigations into the shooting. Body camera video from the incident is expected to be released within 10 business days, per the department's critical incident policy.
