AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- It's official - the 2021 edition of the Austin City Limits Music Festival will proceed as planned, with the City of Austin issuing its special event permit.
The latest development comes just days before thousands of festivalgoers are expected to descend upon Zilker Park, with new health and safety protocols in place to fight against COVID-19.
City officials have said throughout that it's not uncommon for large events to see their permit approvals held until just days before. In 2019, the city approved the festival's final permit on Sept. 26.

Under the safety measures approved by Austin Public Health, festival attendees will either need to show proof of their COVID-19 vaccination, or a printed copy of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours.
The festival will take place over the next two weekends at Zilker Park.
