Austin ISD says it will offer virtual learning option for K-6 students

Virtual learning

AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- With COVID-19 cases continuing to rise once again across the Austin area, Austin ISD officials said Monday they'll offer a form of virtual learning this fall.

AISD Superintendent Dr. Stephanie Elizalde announced the move in a memo to staff members Monday afternoon. She said the decision was based on Austin Public Health returning to Stage 4 guidelines on Friday.

More details on the virtual learning option are expected to be released this Friday, July 30.

According to Elizalde's message to staff, the virtual learning option will not require teachers to teach both in-person and virtual students at the same time.

AISD is set to begin its 2021-22 school year on August 17.
