APD Investigating Eastside Homicide: Austin Police are investigating a Sunday night homicide at an apartment complex on the city’s east side. APD says officers were called out to the Jordan at Mueller Apartments in the 2700 block of Philomena Street around 10:15 last night; that’s near East 51st and Tilley. Officers found a woman with injuries; she was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died. Police say the incident didn’t happen inside a building, but somewhere in the complex. It’s the city’s 21st homicide of the year; anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
Lake Travis Boat Fire Injures 3: Investigators are still trying to determine what led to a boat fire at a marina on Lake Travis Saturday night. Austin-Travis County EMS tells us its crews and Lake Travis Fire Rescue responded to that incident around 11 pm at the South Shore Marina in the 5900 block of Hiline Road; two boats were already on fire when first responders arrived on the scene. A total of three people suffered critical injuries, one of which had to be transported via STAR Flight; the Travis County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
Second Confirmed Case of Measles in Travis County: Austin Public Health says it’s confirmed a second reported case of measles in Travis County - this time, in a vaccinated adult who officials say was traveling here in the United States. That patient is said to be isolating with mild symptoms, according to health officials. As of Friday, state health officials are reporting 646 confirmed cases, with most of those tied to the original outbreak in Gaines County. Two school aged, unvaccinated children have died due to the outbreak. Health officials say symptoms generally appear 7 to 14 days after contact with an infected individual; those common symptoms include fever, cough, rash, red watery eyes, runny nose, and small white spots inside the mouth and throat.
Final Days Of Early Voting For May 3 Elections: You’ve still got two more days to cast your ballot early in Saturday’s elections. A total of six school districts across Central Texas are asking voters to approve millions of dollars in bond packages, alongside a number of school board, city and other municipal races. Check with your county elections office for a list of early voting locations; if you don’t cast your ballot early, Saturday is election day, with polls open from 7am until 7pm.
