AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Like many others in the Class of 2021, the graduating seniors of Anderson High School have faced a lot over the last year - trying to navigate a pandemic and virtual classes.

As they prepared to walk the stage Wednesday night, not one of them was about to let something as small as a power outage at their graduation ceremony hold them back.

The Trojans' graduation ceremony was taking place at Austin ISD's Delco Activity Center in northeast Austin, with power going out just as the ceremony was getting underway.

Despite not having lights or a sound system, the graduates and staff kept the show going, with the crowd singing the Star-Spangled Banner under the glow of emergency lights and smartphones.

Austin Energy said power was restored to the area around 9 p.m.

Austin ISD wraps up its slate of graduation ceremonies throughout the day Thursday at Burger Center in southwest Austin, with graduates from Crockett, Akins, Travis, and Bowie all set to walk the stage.
