AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Central Texas' weather roller coaster will be in full effect this week, with temperatures in the upper 80s Monday and Tuesday to give way to temperatures down in the lower 30s by Wednesday afternoon.
An Arctic cold front is expected to push southward and into the area on Wednesday, creating what will likely be a nearly 50 degree temperature drop by late Wednesday afternoon.
Forecast models are also calling for light precipitation to begin early Wednesday morning and continue through Thursday night, likely turning to some form of wintry precipitation as temperatures fall - potentially a mix of rain, sleet, and freezing rain.
With freezing temperatures and precipitation in the forecast, there may be some concerns with travel impacts Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and again Thursday night into Friday morning.
While the Hill Country will likely see the biggest threat of any travel impacts, a light glaze could still be possible in the Austin metro. Even a few hundredths of an inch can cause issues, particularly with elevated bridges and overpasses.
