AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin Police say officers made a total of 85 DWI-related arrests during the holiday season's "No Refusal" effort this year.
This year's effort ran from December 15 through January 1.
Under the department's "no refusal" efforts, officers can immediately call for a warrant to have a driver's blood forcibly drawn if they refuse to consent to a breath or blood test as required by law.
Of the 85 DWI-related arrests, 43 were made following blood search warrants, along with 31 breath samples and 11 blood samples obtained via consent.
Several of the arrests carried enhanced charges, including 13 with a breath sample over 0.15, 7 for felony DWI (with 2 or more prior convictions), 2 for felony DWI with a child passenger in the vehicle, and 11 for a Class A misdemeanor DWI with a prior conviction.
