AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- An Austin Police officer was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after a serious crash on the city's east side.
First responders were called to the scene just after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning along FM 969 between Johnny Morris Road and Decker Lane.
An APD patrol vehicle and an 18-wheeler were involved in the crash. Police say the 18-wheeler made a U-turn in front of the officer's patrol vehicle, which became pinned underneath the 18-wheeler's trailer.
Austin Police Association President Ken Casaday said in a tweet Wednesday morning that the officer involved sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized.
Our APD Family needs prayers this morning. One of our officers was critically injured in an on-duty car accident. Please uplift our officer, his family and our department with your thoughts and prayers.
