AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- As predicted, Monday set a new record at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport - smashing the previous record set just last year.

43,243 passengers were screened through security checkpoints at AUS Monday, Oct. 23, the day after this year's Formula 1 United State Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas.

The new record is just 1,002 passengers more than the previous record, set last year on Oct. 22 - the Monday after the F1 race weekend when 42,241 passengers were screened through security.

With the exception of last year's post-F1 Monday, all of the top ten busiest days at AUS are now from this year - with the airport on track for 22 million passengers by the end of the year.

Four of the top ten have been set this month alone.

Monday was the first time the airport has seen more than 43,000 passengers in a single day.
