
AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport continued its post-pandemic recovery in January, with passenger traffic in and out of the airport posting a 165% gain over just one year prior.
According to data released by airport officials Tuesday, some 1,097,442 passengers flew in and out of AUS in January. While the total was a significant increase over 2021 and even 2018, traffic was still below 2019 and 2020.
Southwest Airlines remained the busiest carrier at AUS, with a total of 405,525 passengers - a 196% increase over January 2021. American, Delta, United, and Alaska Airlines followed behind.
Several international carriers also are resuming flights, after suspending service through the height of the pandemic, including British Airways, Aeromexico, Air Canada, and Qatar Airways.
