AUSTIN (Talk1370.com) -- The outgoing chief financial officer for the Austin Independent School District has been placed on administrative leave, following his arrest on charges related to insurance fraud.

51-year old Eduardo Ramos was arrested Wednesday by Austin ISD police, acting on a warrant from the Round Rock Police Department.

The arrest and charges are in no way connected to Ramos' work for AISD, officials said.

Ramos had already submitted his resignation from the district last month, according to the AISD statement, with his last day originally scheduled for August 16. He had been in the job for three years.

According to a district statement, AISD Superintendent Matias Segura placed Ramos on paid leave the same day he was arrested. Segura said Katrina Montgomery, the district's assistant superintendent of finance, will serve as the district's interim CFO.
